A “Tachyon” is a theoretical subatomic particle which moves
faster than the speed of light. . .
It’s also one of the
world’s finest, rarest, and most sought-after Bali-Song /Butterfly knives.
This rare example is in
excellent condition. It has never been carried or sharpened. The latch
has not been moved. The tension on the blade has never been adjusted.
• “Sandwich” handle
construction – not cheap cast
handle or u-channel construction
• Torx screw / Chicago screw
• As precisely constructed as
a fine Swiss watch
• Astonishing fit and finish
– the precision of the construction of these knives exceeds even that of the
highly regarded Benchmade series
play whatsoever when open and locked
• Maybe 1 mm of
play in the handles with the blade open and the handle unlatched – Compare this
to any custom Bali-song you have!
• No play or slop in the latch whatsoever. The latch locks
the knife tightly open and closed – and yet it’s very easy to release when you want
• Handles are Titanium –
allowing for extreme strength but amazing lightness, making this the fastest Bali-Song I have ever handled
• Original Microtech Tachyon
nylon sheath included
• Serial Number 1517 (First
Tachyon sold was 0102.) Production date 09/2002.
Condition: I consider this knife to be in excellent condition. The
only fault is some very
light scratching on the Teflon coating on the blade from handling and
“flipping” the knife occassionally. For this reason, I cannot honestly call it
There is no wear or
scratching to the handle.

airtight collection since I purchased it in 2002, and has only been removed to
Microtech sheath is included, but no box or papers.
I have not been able to
find a single Tachyon currently for sale anywhere on the Web, nor at any of the
recent gun and knife shows in my area. If you can find one, original, “Mint” condition Tachyons
appear to be selling around $425 – 550 now.
Because of the slight scratches to the blade, and the fact that this
knife does not come with the original box and papers, I am asking significantly
less than the cost of a perfect specimen. . .
starts at only $425!
